The 2025 World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) Congress, held in Bangkok, Thailand, marked a historic milestone for African baseball, showcasing the continent’s growing influence and ambition on the global stage.

Representing Ghana and the African region, Mr. Ernest Danso, President of the Ghana Baseball and Softball Federation, contested for the position of Member-at-Large on the WBSC Executive Board. His bold candidacy, though narrowly missing election after three competitive rounds of voting, sent a powerful message. Africa is ready to lead, to influence, and to shape the future of world baseball.

Mr. Edmund Kwesi Ackom, Vice President of the Ghana Baseball and Softball Federation, was also elected as Member-at-Large on the WBSC Africa Executive Board after two rounds of intense voting.

The Congress gathered delegates and executives from across the world to deliberate on policies, reforms, and strategies aimed at strengthening baseball and softball internationally.

The Ghana delegation’s participation and their successes are expected to boost the continent’s representation in global baseball governance, opening new opportunities for training, youth development, and international partnerships.

As the African baseball community reflects on the outcomes of the WBSC Congress 2025, there is renewed optimism and determination to build, elevate, and champion baseball across Africa and beyond.
