The Regatta is one of the exciting activities associated with the Oguaa Fetu Afahye, attracting residents, visitors and tourists to Cape Coast.

2. THE EVENT TAKES PLACE ON THE FOSU LAGOON:

The Regatta transforms the Fosu Lagoon into a centre of excitement as Asafo Companies teams take to the water to compete and showcase their skills with strength and speed for the ultimate prize.

3. ASAFO COMPANIES PLAY AN IMPORTANT ROLE:

The competition provides an opportunity for Oguaa’s Asafo Companies to demonstrate their teamwork, strength, discipline and traditional spirit through canoe racing.

4. IT COMBINES CULTURE WITH SPORTING COMPETITION:

Beyond the race itself, the Regatta reflects Oguaa’s rich cultural heritage. Traditional activities, music, colourful displays and the presence of the Asafo Companies add to the experience.

5. TW RADIO TAKES OVER THE ORGANISATION OF THE REGATTA:

For several years, ATL FM hosted and organised the Fetu Afahye Regatta. For the 2026 edition, the Oguaa Fetu Afahye Planning Committee has handed the organisation of the Regatta to TW Radio 88.9, marking a new chapter in the event’s history.
