The First Lady of Ghana, Lordina Dramani Mahama, is in Washington, D.C., to participate in the Fostering the Future Together Global Coalition Summit, a high-level international forum focused on advancing child protection and digital safety in an increasingly connected world.
The two-day summit has been convened by the First Lady of the United States, Melania Trump, and brings together First Spouses from across the world. The gathering is aimed at developing collaborative strategies to ensure a safer, more secure, and more equitable digital future for children.
Discussions at the summit are expected to focus on key issues including online child safety, responsible technology use, digital literacy, and global cooperation in addressing emerging risks associated with the rapid expansion of digital platforms.
In a statement ahead of the summit, Mrs. Mahama reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to ensuring that technology serves as a tool for empowerment rather than harm. “Ghana stands ready to ensure technology becomes a force for empowerment, not endangerment, for every child. Our children’s future is our shared moral duty and generational responsibility,” she stated.
The summit is expected to conclude with a joint framework outlining shared commitments by participating First Spouses to support global efforts in enhancing child online safety and promoting responsible digital innovation.
