DVLA shuts down illegal DV plate rings in Cape Coast and Sunyani

The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority reports that a focused enforcement drive headed by the Chief Executive and his Deputies have led to the instant shutdown of multiple insurance company offices located on DVLA premises in Cape Coast and Sunyani.
The crackdown came after thorough intelligence gathering and on‑site checks that exposed unauthorised distribution of Defective Vehicle plates. Investigations found that garage owners and operators were illegally vending DV plates straight to private persons, sidestepping legal processes.
The plates were priced excessively high, taking advantage of unsuspecting citizens. Certain insurance companies on DVLA premises assisted these unlawful deals, acting as a physical base for the black‑market trade of the plates.
