Concerned Farmers Association denies reports of cocoa farmers’ protest; warns against politicising sector

The Concerned Farmers Association of Ghana has denied reports that cocoa farmers are planning a demonstration, warning against what it describes as attempts to politicise the cocoa sector.

In a statement signed by its President, Farmer General Nana Oboadie Boateng Bonsu II, the association said no cocoa farmers have threatened to embark on any protest.

The group stressed that farmers are focused on their livelihoods and are not involved in political activities.

“We are farmers, not politicians,” the statement said, calling on the Ghana Police Service to investigate any individual or group seeking to organise a demonstration in the name of cocoa farmers before granting approval.

The association further cautioned that impersonating cocoa farmers for political purposes is a serious offence that must be dealt with accordingly.

It urged the public to disregard any claims suggesting that Ghanaian cocoa farmers have endorsed or planned any demonstration.
