The late highlife legend Daddy Lumba will be laid to rest in Kumasi on December 6, 2025. According to a statement from his radio station, DL FM, the funeral ceremony will be held at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.


Daddy Lumba, born Charles Kwadwo Fosu, passed away on July 26, 2025, at the Bank Hospital following a brief illness. He was 60 years old. Since his passing, numerous prominent figures, including former and current presidents, have shared their condolences and expressed their sorrow over the loss of the beloved singer.


In his memory, the Creative Arts Agency and the Fosu family organized a nationwide candlelight vigil at Independence Square. On August 30, 2025, a week-long memorial service took place at Independence Square, where hundreds of fans, artists, dignitaries, and family members gathered to honor the late highlife icon.


The solemn event was attended by former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin, and former Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong.


The gathering featured performances of Daddy Lumba’s timeless classics, including ‘Aben Wo Ha,’ ‘Sika Asem,’ and ‘Theresa.’
