President John Dramani Mahama has praised Zambia’s GoldBod reforms, describing them as a bold and transformative step toward ensuring greater transparency, accountability, and value addition in the country’s mineral sector.

Delivering an address to the Zambian Parliament, President Mahama commended the Zambian government for implementing forward-looking policies that align with Africa’s broader goal of retaining more value from its natural resources. He noted that such reforms represent the kind of progressive economic governance Africa needs to secure sustainable growth and shared prosperity.

“The GoldBod initiative is not just an economic reform   it is a continental statement that Africa is ready to manage its wealth with greater fairness, innovation, and independence,” President Mahama said.

He emphasized the importance of regional cooperation and policy exchange among African nations, adding that Ghana is also pursuing complementary initiatives aimed at enhancing transparency in extractive governance and strengthening local beneficiation of raw materials.

President Mahama’s address was part of a state visit to Zambia, during which he engaged in discussions on trade, investment, and regional development under the framework of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA)

His remarks have been widely interpreted as a reaffirmation of Ghana’s support for homegrown African economic reforms designed to foster inclusive development and long-term financial sovereignty.
