The National Service Authority (NSA) has hinted at an imminent upward adjustment in the monthly allowances paid to National Service personnel across the country. Currently, personnel receive about GH¢715 per month.
Speaking to journalists in Accra, the Acting Director-General of the NSA, Ruth Dela Seddoh, disclosed that discussions were at an advanced stage to finalize a new rate, though she declined to state the specific percentage increase being considered.
“It is something that the President has expressed his interest in. But we all know the situation we find ourselves in, and so we don’t want to press him too hard. Let’s be hopeful,” Ms. Seddoh said.
“I don’t want to go ahead of the Minister, but I can assure you that we have had very good talks, and we are hopeful that there will be some increment,” she added.
The expected review of allowances comes as part of the government’s broader efforts to enhance the welfare of young graduates serving under the National Service Scheme.
Meanwhile, the NSA has announced that online registration for the 2025/2026 service year will officially open on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, and close on Wednesday, October 15, 2025.
According to the Authority, this decision follows a directive from President John Dramani Mahama after a Technical and Forensic Audit of the previous Central Service Management Platform (CSMP) revealed significant deficiencies in its functionality and data security.
The NSA has since been tasked to design and deploy a new, more robust digital platform aimed at improving transparency, enhancing security, and ensuring real-time verification of service records.
In a statement, the Authority clarified that all registrations completed in June 2025 have been rendered null and void due to data integrity concerns, including age discrepancies detected during the earlier process.
It therefore urged all prospective National Service personnel to re-register on the new platform within the stipulated period to ensure inclusion in the upcoming service year.
Ms. Seddoh reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to continuous improvement and transparency in managing national service operations while assuring personnel of better conditions ahead.
