In a move aimed at improving convenience and efficiency for citizens, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced a same-day, super-expedited service for Ghanaian passports. This initiative is designed for applicants who require a passport urgently, allowing them to obtain one within 24 hours of application.
According to Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Foreign Affairs Minister, the service is rigorous and demanding, as it requires staff to work around the clock to meet the tight timeline. To qualify, applicants must meet the necessary criteria and pay a special rate of 2,000 Ghana cities.
“For emergencies or urgent travel needs, this super-expedited service ensures that Ghanaians can obtain their passports promptly. However, it is demanding on our workforce, and the rate reflects the intensive effort required,” Minister Ablakwa explained.
For citizens without urgent travel needs, the Ministry continues to offer an efficient service that delivers passports within 15 days at a more affordable rate of 350 Ghana cities. This option provides a reliable and cost-effective solution for the majority of applicants.
Mr. Ablakwa urged Ghanaians to consider their travel urgency when choosing between the super-expedited and standard services, emphasizing that the expedited option is intended primarily for genuine emergencies.
With this dual-service approach, Ghana is enhancing passport accessibility while maintaining efficiency, ensuring that citizens can meet both urgent and planned travel needs.
