The auditorium of The Nduom School of Business and Technology, Elmina came alive on Friday, 23 May 2026, as students, dignitaries and families gathered for the institution's 5th Matriculation and 3rd Congregation Ceremony, an event that saw female students emerge as the standout performers of the day.
From academic honours to special recognitions, women carried much of the spotlight in a ceremony that blended celebration with ambition, as graduates crossed a major academic milestone under the watch of education regulators, university partners and business leaders. At the centre of the celebration was Miss Lawrencia Nelson, a former Students' Representative Council secretary and quiz team representative, who graduated as valedictorian after earning first class honours in BSc Banking and Finance. Her achievement drew admiration from guests and colleagues alike, capping years of academic discipline and student leadership.
If one narrative quietly shaped the ceremony, it was the commanding presence of women in academic excellence. Several of the institution's top recognitions went to female students, underscoring what many attendees described as a defining moment for women at the school.
Chairing the event was Global President of Groupe Nduom, , who used the occasion not only to celebrate achievement but to challenge graduates to embrace diligence beyond the classroom.
"Do not love sleep, else you'll grow poor," he said, quoting Proverbs as he urged students to remain disciplined and committed to hard work in the next phase of their lives.
In a move that drew loud applause from the auditorium, Dr. Nduom announced a GHCI 0,000 cash award for every student who graduated with first class honours. He further assured beneficiaries of support in transitioning into the job market, a pledge that many saw as a practical extension of the institution's commitment to student success beyond graduation.
The ceremony, which began at 9 amand concluded around 1 1 a.m., attracted dignitaries from the and the , the institution's affiliate university. Senior managers of Groupe Nduom, including , were also in attendance, alongside representatives of Ahomeka FM and Ocean 1 Media.
One of the ceremony's more symbolic moments came when international graduating students presented a traditional Fugu smock to Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom as a gesture of appreciation for the opportunities extended to them through the institution. Miss Stephanie Audrey, an Ivorian student, was also recognised as Best International Student, adding an international dimension to the day's honours.
For an institution affiliated with the University of Cape Coast and steadily carving a place within Ghana's private tertiary education landscape, Friday's congregation was more than a graduation ceremony. It was a statement of growth, aspiration and the outcomes of opportunity, punctuated by the unmistakable rise of women at the forefront of academic distinction.
