The Producer Price Review Committee (PPRC) on Cocoa, chaired by Minister for Finance Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, convened today to assess the Producer Price of Cocoa for the upcoming 2025/2026 season.

On August 4, 2025, the Government announced a producer price of GHS3,228.75 per bag, equating to GHS51,660 (approximately US$5,040) per tonne. This price represented 70% of the average Gross Free on Board (FoB) price of US$7,200 per tonne.

After extensive consultations with stakeholders in the cocoa industry, the Government has decided to increase the producer price to GHS3,625 per bag, or GHS58,000 per tonne. This adjustment reflects an increase of approximately GHS400 per bag, representing a 12.27% rise from the previously announced price.

The new price will take effect tomorrow, Friday, October 3, 2025. It is important to note that margins, fees, and rates for all other stakeholders, including the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD), will remain unchanged.

COCOBOD is committed to implementing various interventions aimed at supporting cocoa production and enhancing the welfare of cocoa farmers. These initiatives include the provision of free cocoa fertilizers (both liquid and granular), free insecticides, free spraying machines, free fungicides, and free flower inducers.

Furthermore, COCOBOD is on track to launch a new Tertiary Education Scholarship Scheme for the children of cocoa farmers in the 2026/27 academic year, reinforcing the Government’s commitment to the cocoa sector.

The Government remains dedicated to supporting the Ghana Cocoa Board in building a robust and resilient cocoa industry that offers sustainable and optimal benefits to all stakeholders.
